THE FLUNKY CHICKEN
Charting Life's Journey, One Moment At A Time
Life's path isn't always clear. For me, it took an unexpected turn – a health crisis that left me searching for answers. In that search, I found woodworking, a craft that not only helped me heal but also taught the power of creating something meaningful with my own hands. Through this process, I discovered the significance of orienteering and cairns – symbols of guidance, resilience, and wayfinding.
Now, I craft more than just souvenirs – I create waypoints to help others navigate their own journeys. Each handcrafted piece serves as a reminder of where you've been, where you are, and where you're headed. Whether you're honoring a personal milestone, seeking clarity, or simply needing something tangible to ground you, my work is designed to inspire, guide, and connect.
Your journey matters. Let's explore, reflect, and build something – together.
Finding My Way
The Story Behind The Flunky Chicken
In 2002, I began experiencing mysterious physical symptoms with no clear answers. It took ten years of searching before I was finally diagnosed with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)—conditions that reshaped my life in ways I never expected.
As I worked to navigate this new reality, I turned to creativity—not just as an outlet, but as a way to heal. What had once been a tool for survival became something more: a means of expression, purpose, and connection. I started making things just for myself, but when friends and neighbors began requesting my work, I realized I had found something truly meaningful.
The name The Flunky Chicken comes from a story a dear friend once shared with me. In her culture, there’s a tale of an eagle raised as a chicken, much like The Ugly Duckling. The eagle, different from the others, was shamed and cast aside—until she finally discovered the truth: she was never meant to be a chicken. She was an eagle all along.
I chose this name to honor my friend, who saw past all the labels and recognized me for who I truly was. Her belief in me helped change my path, and now, through my work, I hope to help others navigate their own journeys—embracing who they are, where they’ve been, and where they’re meant to go.
My Mission
As The Flunky Chicken, my mission is to craft meaningful, handcrafted cairns and souvenirs that serve as waypoints for life’s journey. Through woodworking and creativity, I create tangible reminders of where you’ve been, where you are, and where you’re going. Rooted in resilience, faith, and the power of storytelling, my work is designed to inspire healing, reflection, and purposeful navigations – helping others find their way forward, just as I found mine.

My Vision
I envision a world where every journey – physical, emotional, or spiritual – is honored and navigated with intention. Through the art of handcrafted wayfinding markers, I aim to provide encouragement and clarity for those seeking direction in their own lives. By sharing my story of healing, creativity, and faith, I hope to inspire others to embrace their own paths with courage and purpose, knowing they are never truly lost.
